Jim Haynes Honoured

The board of the Country Music Association of Australia takes great pleasure in bestowing an HONORARY LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to JIM HAYNES.

Jim has been a member of the country music community for over 30 years, and his talents are legendary. He’s a very successful songwriter and entertainer, a comic, a poet, an author, a teacher and mentor. His knowledge and interests are hugely varied – he has written many books on Australian history, railways, horseracing, aviation, mateship, biographies, and all things Australiana!

But Jim has given back to his community too, and this is what we are very pleased to recognise today. Jim is always ready to put his hand up to assist in all sorts of ways, and one of those was to agree to become an founding member of the board of the Country Music Association of Australia in 1992, a role that he continued for over 20 years.

His role in the Tamworth Camerata (now known as the CMAA Academy of Country Music Junior Course) is as architect and convenor of the Parent Course, giving the parents of talented young performers an insight into the entertainment industry, along with a wealth of advice and guidance in helping to nurture their children’s budding careers. This Parent Course is unique, hugely popular, and very much envied in the entertainment field, and would not have been possible without Jim’s experience, knowledge and expertise.

Jim continues to be a much loved mentor for many young artists, providing them with opportunities to perform and hone their craft, along with the benefit of his advice and guidance.

We think that it is entirely appropriate that this honour be presented to Jim by Amber Lawrence, one of those young stars who enjoyed his mentorship, right here at the Botany Public School, the place where he received his formative education!

The CMAA would like to thank Jim Haynes for his dedication to excellence in his craft, and the country music industry in general. Thanks Jim!

We’d also like to express our thanks to Amber Lawrence for taking on this arduous task on behalf of the board!
