The CMAA has just announced a major overhaul of its business model. From June 2014, Professional Membership fees will be completely restructured to reflect the wishes of the membership as expressed at the AGM. Basic CMAA Professional Membership will now be set at $50 plus GST. This will entitle any member to all the normal benefits of membership such as Board voting rights, discounts and Judging rights. If the member wishes to enter their music into the Golden Guitar Awards, a nomination fee of $75 plus GST will apply. Non CMAA members will require a Nomination fee of $200 plus GST.
The Associate Membership will no longer exist, replaced instead by ‘Country Club’ Membership which is totally free and will be attached to a regular e-Newsletter and discounts and rewards in the future.
A new category of Junior Membership open to under 18 members and this will entitle the Junior members to participate by voting on The Best New Talent Award in the Golden guitars and all the discounts and rewards of full professional Membership. Junior membership is priced at $25 plus GST
Paul O’Gorman from the CMAA Board says
“This reduction in fees is going to affect our bottom line but we want as many members as possible to come on board so that we have a strong member base to support our role as your representative with the Tamworth City Council and others to provide an even better Golden Guitars event next year.
We have to acknowledge that there has been a view in some quarters, and it may still be the case, that the CMAA has existed mainly for the benefit of the existing mainstream artists, and that the up and comers have little hope of even being nominated for a Golden Guitar. We can only say that as far as we are concerned this has never been the case, but impressions often stick, so we are hopeful that the “user friendly” approach we are adopting in relation to fees and eligibility will go a long way to dispelling any concerns in that area.
Obviously a reduction in fees is going to affect the CMAA bottom line but we want as many members as possible to come on board so that we have a strong member base to support our role as your representative with the Tamworth City Council and others to provide an even better Golden Guitars event next year.”
