The Slim Dusty classic ‘Looking Forward, Looking Back’ is the perfect theme for this year’s Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, as country music personalities and fans get set to celebrate the Award’s 40th anniversary on January 28.

To mark the 40th year of Australia’s longest running music award ceremony, this year’s Golden Guitars will feature a number of special guests and surprises to honour the rich history of the country music industry.

Amongst the country music legends set to grace the stage at the Awards are John Minson, Kevin Knapp and Max Ellis, who cemented Tamworth as the capital of Australian country music when they helped to found the Golden Guitar Awards in 1973.

“The Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards have evolved immensely since their humble beginnings at the Tamworth Town Hall,” said Max Ellis, a renowned industry leader in country music.

“But what hasn’t changed is the unbridled passion that both artists and fans alike display for the genre,” he continued.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating the success of country music in Australia at this year’s 40th anniversary Awards,” added Max.

The evening will feature a 40-year retrospective presentation on the Awards, reflecting on everything from Joy McKean winning the first ever Golden Guitar, to the Country Music Association of Australia taking over the wards in 1993. This will also look back on country favourites who rose to fame through Tamworth’s Star Maker.

To close the event, attendees will also be treated to a very special tribute performance.

To be involved in the celebrations you must purchase a ticket to the 40th Awards event. Tickets to the general public are on sale now from $55 and can be purchased directly from www.tcmf.com.au or by calling 02 6767 5300.

The 40th Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia is the pinnacle event of the Country Music Festival and will be staged at 7.30pm on Saturday 28 January 2012 at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC). QantasLink Red Carpet arrivals will commence at 5.00pm.
